Foldy Birdy Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 6, 2026
1. Who we are
Special Glasses LLC ("we", "us") makes Foldy Birdy, a game for iPhone. This policy covers the Foldy Birdy app. Our website is covered by the Special Glasses privacy policy.
2. Summary
- Foldy Birdy has no accounts. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Your scores and unlocks stay on your phone and in your own iCloud account.
- Game Center is optional. Apple runs it.
- Google AdMob shows the ads. Google Analytics for Firebase measures play, only where your consent allows it. Anyone can turn analytics off in the game's Settings.
- Hinge and motion readings steer the bird on your phone. They are not sent anywhere.
3. Data that stays with you
- On your phone: best scores (per world and mode), campaign unlocks, your selected world, character and way to play, and your settings.
- In your iCloud account: best scores, unlocks and campaign completion are copied to iCloud's key-value storage so they match across your devices. This data sits in your iCloud account. We cannot see it.
- Hinge and motion: Fold Flap, Fold Glide, Tilt Glide and "Flick to flap" read the hinge angle or the phone's motion on the device to move the bird. These readings are not stored or sent.
- Sharing: the game can make a picture of your score. It leaves your phone only if you share it through the iOS share sheet.
4. Game Center (Apple)
If you sign in to Game Center, the game sends your best Flap and Glide scores to Game Center leaderboards and reports the medals you earn. Apple receives this data, not us. The game may ask you to sign in at game over. You can also sign in from the game's Settings. See Apple's privacy policy.
5. Ads (Google AdMob)
Foldy Birdy shows ads through the Google Mobile Ads SDK: a banner on the game over screen, a full-screen ad now and then when you leave the game over screen, and an optional "watch an ad to continue". No ads show while you fly. Ad content is limited to Google's "General audiences" rating.
Google's ad SDK collects the following, as Google declares it:
- Coarse location, derived from your IP address
- A device identifier: the advertising identifier, only if you allow tracking
- Product interaction (such as ad views and taps, and app launches)
- Advertising data (which ads were shown)
- Crash data, performance data and other diagnostic data
Tracking. Before the first ad loads, iOS asks whether Foldy Birdy may track you. If you allow it, Google may use the advertising identifier to personalize ads. If you don't, the game asks Google for non-personalized ads and the SDK does not read the advertising identifier. You can change this any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
Consent form. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent form appears before ads are requested. In US states with their own privacy laws, such as California, Google's "My data preferences" message lets you choose "Don't sell or share my data", and the game sends no analytics data there. You can change your answer later with "Privacy choices" in the game's Settings.
Remove Ads. If you buy Remove Ads, the banner and full-screen ads stop and the game no longer asks to track you. The optional "watch an ad to continue" stays.
See Google's privacy policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
6. Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to learn how the game is played, so we can tune it. Firebase is not started until your consent choices allow analytics:
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Analytics runs only if you allow analytics storage in Google's consent form.
- Elsewhere, Analytics is on by default.
- Anyone, anywhere, can turn it off with the "Share analytics" switch in the game's Settings. When it is off, the game sends nothing to Google Analytics, and the analytics data on your phone is reset. Turning it back on cannot override a "no" you gave in Google's consent form.
What it receives:
- Game events: a run starting and ending (mode, way to play, world, character, score, play time, number of flaps, whether the phone has a hinge, and whether "Flap on small folds" is on), medals earned, characters unlocked, worlds opened and the campaign finished, "Play next" use, the game asking iOS for the App Store rating prompt, ad events (an ad was shown or a continue was offered or used), a Remove Ads purchase (no price and no transaction ID), and settings changes (for example sound on or off). These contain only numbers and fixed words.
- Google's automatic events: first open, session start and engagement time.
- Identifier: a random app instance ID created for each install. Analytics does not get the advertising identifier, the vendor identifier or any user ID.
- Location: Google derives a coarse location from your IP address.
Google may also measure App Store purchases made in the app. If you withdraw consent in "Privacy choices", the analytics data on your phone is reset, and a later grant starts with a new app instance ID.
Analytics does not get the advertising identifier. We do not use Analytics data to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
7. Purchases
Remove Ads is an in-app purchase handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. The game checks with Apple whether you own Remove Ads, and keeps that answer on your phone.
8. How Apple's App Store labels this data
| Data type | Used for | Linked to you | Used to track you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coarse location | Third-party advertising, developer's advertising or marketing, analytics | Yes | No |
| Device ID | Third-party advertising, developer's advertising or marketing, analytics | Yes | Yes (the advertising identifier, only if you allow tracking) |
| Purchase history | Analytics | Yes | No |
| Product interaction | Third-party advertising, developer's advertising or marketing, analytics | Yes | No |
| Advertising data | Third-party advertising, developer's advertising or marketing, analytics | Yes | No |
| Crash data | Analytics | No | No |
| Performance data | Third-party advertising, developer's advertising or marketing, analytics | No | No |
| Other diagnostic data | Third-party advertising, developer's advertising or marketing, analytics | No | No |
"Developer's advertising or marketing" is listed because Google declares it for its ad SDK. We run no marketing of our own inside the game. "Linked to you" means tied to a device-level identifier. We do not know who you are.
9. What we do not collect
- No name, email, phone number or other contact details
- No precise location
- No photos, camera, microphone or contacts
- No browsing or search history
- No health or financial data
10. Children
Foldy Birdy is intended for a general audience. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The game is rated 4+ on the App Store, and every ad request is limited to Google's "General audiences" content rating. If you are a parent or guardian and have a question about your child's data, email us at spatial@specialglasses.net.
11. Your choices
- Tracking: iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- Analytics: the "Share analytics" switch in the game's Settings, available to everyone.
- Ad and analytics consent: "Privacy choices" in the game's Settings, where Google's consent rules apply.
- Game Center: sign out in iOS Settings > Game Center.
- Data on your phone: deleting the app removes it.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, or to object to how it is used. We do not hold your name or contact details, and we cannot see your iCloud data. Data collected by Google is handled under Google's policies. To ask a question or make a request, email us. We aim to respond within 30 days.
13. California (CCPA/CPRA)
This section is for California residents. It uses the categories of the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act.
What is collected. Through Google's ad and analytics tools (sections 5 and 6): identifiers (the advertising identifier, only if you allow tracking, and Analytics' random app instance ID), internet or other electronic network activity (gameplay events, ads shown and tapped), approximate location derived from your IP address, the fact of a Remove Ads purchase, and crash and performance data. We collect no sensitive personal information as the law defines it.
Personalized ads. The game lets Google use the advertising identifier only if you allow tracking when iOS asks (Apple's App Tracking Transparency). If you do not, every ad request asks Google for non-personalized ads, and the advertising identifier is not available to the game or to Google's ad SDK. Google still receives technical data such as your IP address and device type to deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud.
Selling and sharing. We do not sell personal information for money. If you allow tracking, Google's ad SDK uses the advertising identifier to personalize ads, and California law may treat that as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Without tracking permission, the advertising identifier is not used for ads.
How to opt out.
- Deny tracking: answer "Ask App Not to Track" when iOS asks, or turn tracking off later in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- Turn off "Share analytics" in the game's Settings to stop all analytics.
- In California and other US states with privacy laws, choose "Don't sell or share my data" in Google's "My data preferences" message, or later under "Privacy choices" in the game's Settings.
Your rights. You can ask to know what personal information is collected, to delete or correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. We do not hold your name, contact details or advertising identifier, so the opt-outs above are the most direct way to act on these rights. You can also email us, or ask an authorized agent to do so for you.
